                Ingredients

                • 2 1/2 cups warm water (about 110 degrees)
                • 1 1/2 tablespoons instant yeast
                • 1/3 cup raw honey (or sugar)
                • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (or oil), plus more for brushing
                • 2 teaspoons sea salt
                • About 6 1/2-7 cups bread flour

                Instructions

                1. Dissolve yeast in warm water with honey (or sugar). Let it sit until foamy, which indicates the yeast is active.
                2. Mix in softened butter, sea salt, and gradually add flour until the mixture forms a dough.
                3. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth.
                4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size.
                5. Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf or loaves, and let it rise again.
                6. Bake in a preheated oven until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
                7. Brush with melted butter if desired and allow to cool before slicing.
