Sourdough Sandwich Bread

                A homemade sourdough sandwich bread recipe that is ideal for sandwiches or toasting.

                Ingredients

                • 20 oz sourdough starter (about 2.5 cups)
                • 12 oz warm water (about 1 cup)
                • 4 tablespoons oil
                • 2 teaspoons salt
                • 6 1/2 cups flour (hold back about .5 cups to see if the dough needs it)

                Instructions

                1. Combine all ingredients in a Bosch mixer, adding the flour gradually.
                2. Mix on level one and then switch to level two after a few minutes.
                3. Mix for 10-15 minutes.
                4. Pull dough out of mixer, divide in half, and form each half into a loaf.
                5. Place each loaf in a 9x5 inch bread pan.
                6. Let rise for 3-4 hours, depending on temperature.
                7. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
                8. Bake for 45 minutes.
                9. Remove loaves from oven and cool on a rack.
                10. For easier cutting, let bread cool, bag it up, and slice the following day.
