Sourdough Sandwich Bread
A homemade sourdough sandwich bread recipe that is ideal for sandwiches or toasting.
Ingredients
- 20 oz sourdough starter (about 2.5 cups)
- 12 oz warm water (about 1 cup)
- 4 tablespoons oil
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 6 1/2 cups flour (hold back about .5 cups to see if the dough needs it)
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a Bosch mixer, adding the flour gradually.
- Mix on level one and then switch to level two after a few minutes.
- Mix for 10-15 minutes.
- Pull dough out of mixer, divide in half, and form each half into a loaf.
- Place each loaf in a 9x5 inch bread pan.
- Let rise for 3-4 hours, depending on temperature.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove loaves from oven and cool on a rack.
- For easier cutting, let bread cool, bag it up, and slice the following day.
