Sour Cream Raisin Pie
A rich and flavorful pie made with a combination of raisins, sour cream, and spices, topped with a sweet meringue. This is Dad’s favorite raisin pie.
Ingredients
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 2 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2-3 egg whites (for meringue)
- 6 tablespoons sugar (for meringue)
Instructions
- Simmer together water, sugar, and raisins.
- Mix egg yolks and cream together.
- Stir in flour, spices, and sugar mixture.
- Add to water and raisins along with cream and yolks.
- Now simmer until thickened.
- Cool for 15 minutes, stir and pour into baked pie shell.
- Make meringue from 2-3 egg whites and 6 tablespoons sugar.
- Place in 350°F for 12-15 minutes.
