Ingredients
- 15 ounce slider buns, 12-count
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided into 4 tablespoons and 2 tablespoons
- 3 cups thinly sliced yellow onion, from 1 large onion
- 3 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves, divided into 2 teaspoons and 1 teaspoon
- 3/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon salt, divided into 1/2 teaspoon and 1/4 teaspoon
- 1 1/2 pounds thinly sliced deli roast beef
- 1/2 pound Swiss cheese, thinly sliced
- 10 1/2 ounces French onion soup, Campbell's brand
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 ounce Au Jus mix
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Place the bottom half of your slider buns in a single layer in a 9x13 glass baking dish. Reserve the tops on a separate plate.
- Add 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter to a skillet over medium-high heat. Once melted, add onions, 2 teaspoons thyme, 1/2 teaspoon sugar, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and black pepper. Cook until caramelized, about 10 to 15 minutes.
- Layer roast beef and caramelized onions on the bottom halves of the slider buns. Top with Swiss cheese.
- Place the top halves of the bun on top of the cheese layer.
- Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Mix with remaining thyme and salt. Brush onto the bun tops.
- Bake for 10 to 20 minutes until golden and cheese melted.
- For au jus sauce, use the same skillet to combine French onion soup, water, and au jus mix. Bring to a boil, then simmer while the sliders bake.
- Remove the au jus from heat and pour into a serving bowl or small individual serving bowls.
- Serve sliders with au jus sauce for dipping.
