                • 3 cups thinly sliced yellow onion, from 1 large onion
                • 3 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves, divided into 2 teaspoons and 1 teaspoon
                • 3/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
                • 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
                • 3/4 teaspoon salt, divided into 1/2 teaspoon and 1/4 teaspoon
                • 1 1/2 pounds thinly sliced deli roast beef
                • 1/2 pound Swiss cheese, thinly sliced
                • 10 1/2 ounces French onion soup, Campbell's brand
                • 1 1/2 cups water
                • 1 ounce Au Jus mix
                1x

                Instructions

                1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Place the bottom half of your slider buns in a single layer in a 9x13 glass baking dish. Reserve the tops on a separate plate.
                2. Add 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter to a skillet over medium-high heat. Once melted, add onions, 2 teaspoons thyme, 1/2 teaspoon sugar, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and black pepper. Cook until caramelized, about 10 to 15 minutes.
                3. Layer roast beef and caramelized onions on the bottom halves of the slider buns. Top with Swiss cheese.
                4. Place the top halves of the bun on top of the cheese layer.
                5. Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Mix with remaining thyme and salt. Brush onto the bun tops.
                6. Bake for 10 to 20 minutes until golden and cheese melted.
                7. For au jus sauce, use the same skillet to combine French onion soup, water, and au jus mix. Bring to a boil, then simmer while the sliders bake.
                8. Remove the au jus from heat and pour into a serving bowl or small individual serving bowls.
                9. Serve sliders with au jus sauce for dipping.
