BANANA BARS

                A delightful alternative to banana bread, these moist banana bars are baked and frosted with a scrumptious burned butter frosting to create a perfect dessert treat.

                Ingredients

                • 1 1/2 cups sugar
                • 1 cup yogurt or low-fat sour cream like IMO
                • 1/2 cup margarine
                • 2 eggs
                • 1 1/2 to 2 cups mashed ripe bananas (3 large - 4 medium)
                • 2 tsp. vanilla
                • 2 cups flour
                • 1 tsp salt
                • 1 tsp. baking soda
                • 1/4 cup butter
                • 1 tsp. vanilla
                • 3 TBS. milk or half and half
                • 2 cups powdered sugar

                Instructions

                1. Combine and beat sugar, yogurt or sour cream, margarine, and eggs.
                2. Add mashed bananas and vanilla.
                3. Stir in flour, salt, and baking soda till combined; fold in.
                4. Bake in jelly roll pan at 350 degrees for 18-25 minutes.
                5. Cool and then frost with Burned Butter Frosting: Cook 1/4 cup butter till light brown, then add vanilla, milk or half and half, and powdered sugar. Spread on cooled bars.
