BANANA BARS
A delightful alternative to banana bread, these moist banana bars are baked and frosted with a scrumptious burned butter frosting to create a perfect dessert treat.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup yogurt or low-fat sour cream like IMO
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 to 2 cups mashed ripe bananas (3 large - 4 medium)
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 TBS. milk or half and half
- 2 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Combine and beat sugar, yogurt or sour cream, margarine, and eggs.
- Add mashed bananas and vanilla.
- Stir in flour, salt, and baking soda till combined; fold in.
- Bake in jelly roll pan at 350 degrees for 18-25 minutes.
- Cool and then frost with Burned Butter Frosting: Cook 1/4 cup butter till light brown, then add vanilla, milk or half and half, and powdered sugar. Spread on cooled bars.
